INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND RESEARCHERS
The University Language Academy for Children is also a training site for students in the Bachelors of Arts in Teaching foreign languages program, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Curriculum and Instruction to carry out observations, experimentation, or fulfill aspects of their programs of study or teacher training.
The research mission of the University Language Academy for Children is to provide a site for University of Illinois faculty and graduate students from the Departments of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, Linguistics, Psychology, Speech and Hearing Sciences and Curriculum and Instruction, among others, who study monolingual and bilingual language development and instruction during the school-age period.
Researchers or students interested in observing classes or carrying out research with children at the University Language Academy for Children should contact the Director of the Academy, Prof. Silvina Montrul montrul@illinois.edu for information. All research must be approved by the Institutional Review Board on campus.
